I also grabbed configs I TFTP'd the upgrade error log in the flash and submitted it all on our SR for the Cisco tech to review, I did not find anything of note in the log though. It has all the same licenses as the production ones, I am going to test it out and see if I can make it mad also using the same scenario before I try the others again. I bought a ASA 5505 on ebay should be here before Friday.

Connection can be had, the pc could ping pc's at the other sites and I could bring up the SW site. I call the TAC and while I am on the phone my boss flushes the dns of a computer behind the firewall we have been woorking on. So connect to a pc there and connect to that ASA and reboot it. After doing that, we figure that the issue does not reside at this firewall but at the corporate. I check the VPN's settings and shared keys, TFTP'd the config and compared it to the config I had taken when the ASA was working correctly at 846 the previous day. No connection to the LAN, can ping google but the ASA cannot connect to its twins at corporate or other office. TFTP'd 846the ASA boots to 846 perfectly and boots to the config within the flash.

Configured the IP settings and set up a TFTP server on a computer plugged into a Ethernet port. Break the loop and boot to ROMMON, I also never have dealt with the ROMMON before, that took a bit of google-fu to figure out. We console into the ASA and its in a boot loop I believe, never encountered one before, Its trying to boot to 924 but cannot for an unknown reason.

So we leave for the night and come back Saturday.Ĭome back Saturday morning, console cable in hand. Wait a few moments, connecting to the switch while doing so. So I unplug the power and wait a few moments and return power. Discover that I did not pack the console cable at this moment. 5 minutes later and nothing, I was pining the switch behind the firewall and was not getting a reply and LogMeIn was not showing any contact with the computers behind the firewall., so we head to it, 30 miles away. Then changed the boot configuration to have 924 as the priority and reloaded. The ASA converted the config with no issues. I can join the club of being bitten by an ASA now.įriday evening after-hours I performed the upgrades, took it from 825 to 846, all was well. We do not use any of the high end features, each supports VPNs to one another and 20 devices at the most for each, though we have plans to set An圜onnect up. No, we are not experiencing any of those issues however we are trying to extend the ASA's 2 more years before replacement and I am trying to find a ASA version that will be updated during that time frame for security purposes.

I read somewhere that the feature release 9.1.7 was removed from download availability for some reason, just today I read but for the life of me I cannot find which web page on Cisco. Interestingly when you click All Releases on the sofwtare download page and search for 9.1.7, it is non-existent.

It is an interim Donelly I saw it was interim also. I also have read in Cisco docs that the ASA will convert the 8.2 config to the correct config on its own, though not sure how it would turn Yea that is where this question came from. This was before I knew of that 9.1.7 was receiving updates I received it back from him, there are several changes. I gave the cisco engineer the config of one and he ran it and re-did the config and used a test ASA they have to take the config to 9.2.4, though that was because I requested it.
